Meet our Vendors 102 ~ Uttermost

Last week we were introduced to the use of mirrors to add dimension and create atmosphere in our homes. Lighting and Lamp is proud to offer mirrors, art, clocks, lamps and lighting fixtures and many other accessories and even furniture from Uttermost.
Over thirty eight years ago, Bob and Belle Cooper began this still family owned business. Today Mac Cooper, President/CEO, as well as a team of young but seasoned executives and a team of employees numbering in the hundreds are located in Virginia, California, and Asia as well as over one hundred sales representatives globally.

"The name 'Uttermost' is taken from the Bible, Acts 1:8. This verse reflects our personal beliefs to share God's work 'to the uttermost part of the earth'. Our marketing plan is similar in that we offer our products in nearly all parts of the earth." ~ About Us, Uttermost

Lighting and Lamp's team travels to the showroom in Atlanta, GA and High Point, NC periodically to purchase the newest introductions. They bring back to share with us an almost endless supply of exquisite beauties. There is an immense array of colors, shapes, sizes of mirrors, artwork and frames, chandeliers, lamps, clocks, fireplace accessories, vases and rugs.

Stop by and tour Lighting and Lamp's showroom. You will not be disappointed in the extensive collection of choices! The team at Lighting and Lamp is excited to share their finds with you. Uttermost's passion is to make great home accessories at a reasonable price.

Acts 1:8 ~ "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and you shall be witnesses unto me, both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

Mirror Mirror on the Wall...

One of the many accessories Lighting and Lamp offers to decorate and bring your home to life are mirrors.

Mirrors automatically bring light and depth into rooms. It is almost as though they are moveable colors in any room. They will magnify an area, making a powerful fashion statement, even able to bring the outdoors in when placed near a window.

In a small room, placing a mirror to reflect a pleasant piece of artwork or nice view will expand and enlarge the space. In an entryway, a mirror may be the perfect place for one last check before dashing out the door each morning.

A full sized framed mirror placed directly on the floor, resting on a wall can have a dramatic effect at the end of a hall or living room. Use a floor length mirror on a blank wall with drapes on either side to add softness in a bedroom.

A large mirror will add dimension and create atmosphere in a dining room. Use multiple mirrors in a grouping, as you would artwork. Adding candles or a lamp nearby reflect extra brightness.

Visit Lighting and Lamp's showroom in Pelham. Annie is anxious to tour the showroom with you, guiding you through the many gorgeous options from vendors such as family owned Uttermost. You will certainly be in awe over the colors, shapes and sizes.

Celebration for Big Oak Ranch!

I Love You ~ I'll Never Lie to You ~ I'll Stick with you until You're Grown ~
There are boundaries; Don't Cross Them

These are the promises that children needing a chance receive upon arriving at Big Oak Ranch.

Lighting and Lamp was delighted to be a part of the celebration and excitement September 27, 2014 as Big Oak Ranch celebrated 40 years of meeting the needs of over 2,000 children. Since 1974, John Croyle and his wife, Tee, along with the Big Oak Ranch staff and many volunteers work together by providing children who deserve to know they are loved, a solid Christian home and a chance to fulfill God's plan for their lives. Lighting and Lamp's Patsy and Jim Burks consider it a blessing to have been involved with Big Oak Ranch for many years. One of their many contributions was providing a transitional home at the Boy's Ranch for the high school graduates to live in while attending college or beginning a job.

John and Tee have seen their dream of building the best children's home in America grow into three separate facilities in Northeast Alabama: Big Oak Boy's Ranch in Gadsden, Big Oak Girl's Ranch in Springville, and Westbrook Christian School, Inc. in Rainbow City.

The Boys' Ranch is located on 143 acres and includes nine residential homes, a transitional apartment home, gymnasium, equine center and swimming pool. The Girls' Ranch, 325 acres, includes eight residential homes, a transitional apartment home, gymnasium, equine center and swimming pool.

Acquired in 1990, Westbrook Christian School provides a quality education in a Christian environment for the children of Big Oak Ranch, as well as children from the community. Westbrook Christian School uses the Christian environment to meet the needs of the whole child - academically, spiritually, emotionally, creatively, and physically.

On the 40th anniversary, John Croyle announced he is beginning to turn the operation over to his children, Brodie Croyle and Reagan Croyle Phillips. They have been gradually taking over leadership. Brodie, former Alabama and NFL quarterback, now serves as associate executive director. Reagan, who played basketball at Alabama and was homecoming queen, joined the staff as childcare team director.

John Croyle is quick to admit he is not retiring, his role will simply be slowly changing. "We'll continue to be faithful to what God has called us to do." Brodie said.

"A hundred years from now it will not matter what kind of house we lived in, the kind of car we drove, or how much money we had in the bank, but the world may be different because  you and I were important in the life of a child." ~ John Croyle

The "cornerstone" and even the name of Big Oak Ranch, has remained fundamentally rooted in Isaiah 61:3. "And they shall be called Oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord that He may be glorified."
